San Quirico d’Orcia

The Dutch scholar etruscologist Van Der Meer has identified the current San Quirico d’Orcia with the locality of Ena mentioned in liber Liber Linteius Zagrabiensis, known as the oldest book of Western Europe, written between the 3rd and 2nd century BC by the «Priestly Fraternity of Ena “.
Currently most of the city wall is well preserved, with the exception of the slope facing north and two of the three original gates (porta Romana to the South and Camattoli to the North door), now lost. Of particular historical richness,is the Eastern Gate, the famous Porta dei Cappuccini.
